I was working on my summertime 2022 MacBook Air (model A1466) with a 95% empty glass of coke to my left... and bumped it... spilling a VERY small amount on the lower left corner of the laptop. The coke landed on the trackpad and a few of the keys (space, ten, c, v, b, command)... I had a towel on the table and instantly wiped up the mess only of course there was some soda that got betwixt the letters and the surface of the laptop. This happened about 36 hours ago. I've cleaned the keyboard with rubbing booze and everything appears to be working... no issues with the laptop itself and all the keys piece of work fine. I just spent over an hour testing every key over and over and over and am using it now to type this message. The problem I do have though is I take a few viscous keys, no incertitude from the coke that seeped between the keys and got underneath. The affected keys are the spacebar and a couple letters higher up it. What are my options? I've researched replacement keyboards and I've seen a lot of 2022/2012 model like this MacBook Air 13" A1466 2022 Keyboard | eBay but I am wondering about compatibility with my 2022... Aforementioned goes for things like this... Apple MacBook Air A1466 Touchpad Palmrest Keyboard 069 8219 A | eBay and this... MacBook Air xiii" (Mid 2022) Upper Case with Keyboard (661-7480) - iFixit Other than price are they the aforementioned? I don't need the aluminum outer shell... I just need the keyboard. They aren't "connected" are they? I'd love to be able to just clean the keyboard only information technology looks like I have to take the instance apart... and if I'g doing that and can go a replacement at a decent price I might likewise supercede the keyboard. I am assuming that nada else "underneath" was afflicted other than the keyboard... due to the small amount of coke that was spilled and how quickly I cleaned it. Input greatly appreciated. |

I would try a little more than rubbing alcohol earlier going through all that work; y'all need to get enough alcohol into the areas of the keypad where the keys are sticking. Maybe stand up the computer on its side so the alcohol drains off instead of into the reckoner. I would also recommend you postal service on the Macrumors MBP forum, every bit I think you'll go more than specific and faster help in that location: MacBook Pro - MacRumors Forums |

I would just send it to Apple for cleaning, or to a store that specializes on such piece of work. Some people do it themselves as you can see below, but I would not run a risk doing it myself and breaking 1 of the very small locking tabs on the keys: |

Thanks for the responses... I will postal service over on MacRumors. I most definitely am not interested in breaking anything attempting to practise any cleaning or keyboard replacement myself... I'd rather let them do it. I volition contact some places tomorrow. |

If the space bar is already being affected, then its already seeped past it to computer underneath. The labor associated with this is 3-four hours (PC'southward are much easier and normally have nether an hour) and has nearly ever been this way. |

All the keys on the keyboard are fully functional... it'due south just a few of them are glutinous. At any charge per unit, I'thou thinking a keyboard replacement will exist needed... I hateful, how tin can you "clean" coke from information technology anyway? I've fabricated an appointment at the local Apple store Genius Bar tomorrow afternoon. |

As to the stickiness, yes even though they are still functional. Cola and coffee are highly destructive to internal components. The labor cost may exceed the parts cost, so I advise y'all to back upward any data that is important to y'all since replacing information technology may go an choice (or purchasing an external keyboard may be another). As seen in my video you lot can see how much needs to be removed to see how far the liquid has seeped. In a PC its much easier to accept autonomously since its basically unscrewing a few screws and using a plastic wedge to unhinge the top off to see the whole height or usually a mere two screws to replace merely the keyboard. |

While information technology was incredibly stupid I do remember I got lucky... the outcome is sticky keys, but they are all fully functional and after near 48 hours I oasis't seen whatever other problems. Yous would recall subsequently this amount of fourth dimension if in that location were whatsoever other bug they would have showed up by now. I've got my fingers crossed it's just a keyboard replacement. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r southward t u five westward x y z 1234567890 But a test and I'thou merely glad it wasn't a full drinking glass... when I said it was 95% empty information technology was only that... the majority of the spill landed on the flat lesser left corner of the laptop with literally just a few drops hitting the keys. I'yard gonna become it looked at tomorrow. Equally for my data, I don't take anything important on the laptop. It's all on my 2TB Fourth dimension Capsule. |

I've made an appointment at the local Apple store Genius Bar tomorrow afternoon. No need to replace the keys. The keys are designed so they can exist pulled off the board for cleaning, which leaves the plastic mounting surfaces that concur the keys in place open for cleaning. That's what I would exercise, but not myself. Instead, I would send it to an Apple authorized shop. |

I'm gonna become to the Apple store tomorrow and contact a couple Apple authorized shops too... I either going to do what yous say and have the keys removed with the board cleaned or have the unabridged keyboard (keys and board) replaced... I saw replacement units on Ebay for 2022 MBA'south for $25... probably a lilliputian more expensive from Apple tree just I wouldn't remember more than $50. This was for the entire keyboard and backlighting. Frustrating but I am thankful... information technology could accept been a LOT worse. |
